Johan du Toit
Johan is a highly accomplished and strategically minded executive with exceptional commercial acumen and almost 30 years’ experience in leading successful organisations. He offers advanced business leadership skills, as well as expertise in developing and implementing systems, procedures, and strategies, managing mergers and acquisitions, leading restructuring activities and developing high-performing teams to deliver on organisational objectives. He is committed to productivity and performance improvement and provides a full capability offering in leading successful turnaround and alignment initiatives that significantly contribute to delivering sustainable growth and achieving organisational excellence.

Johan has been involved with all major banks/lenders in assisting companies with debt and balance sheet restructuring. He has also been extensively involved with companies owned and invested in by private equity firms, assisting them with turnarounds and strategic restructuring.

His areas of expertise include organisational leadership, operational restructuring, debt recovery and restructuring, negotiating, and influencing, strategy development and implementation, process development and implementation, commercial leadership, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, change management, business turnaround, production, and efficiency improvement.

Johan has been involved with a range of different industries and businesses, from companies in the listed environment (Sasol, Kelly Group and Alert Steel) to private equity-owned companies (RTT Group and Duro Pressings/Alert Steel), assisting them with restructuring and growth plans to ensure long-term sustainability. In 2008 Johan took a 12 months “non-corporate” sabbatical assisting a colleague in a manufacturing business, Steloy.  Steloy specialised in manufacturing products for the petrochemical industry and supplied parts to companies like Aramco in Dubai, Sasol, Eskom and several major pump manufacturers in South Africa.

Johan has been part of senior executive teams in various industries including education, logistics, manufacturing, and retail, which has given him a broad spectrum of experience in several industry verticals. Working hand in hand with major banks and several private equity players allows Johan to understand the requirements for major debt and balance sheet restructuring for companies in need. This experience allows him an in-depth understanding of restructuring agreements and the alternatives to get a restructure successfully implemented.

Earlier in his career, he was involved with Naspers subsidiary (Logical Options/ Edufin / Damelin) and the Bophuthatswana Development Corporation, focusing on manufacturing businesses funded by the organisation.  Johan is a licensed Senior Business Rescue Practitioner, a member of SAICA and SARIPA. He holds the CA (SA) qualification.
